Terms of Service
Vancouver Social Events Last updated: June 18, 2026
The Short Version
Vancouver Social Events (VSE) is a free platform where people can find local events, join community groups, and connect with others in Metro Vancouver. We list events run by independent organizers. We are not the organizer of most events on this site.
By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
1. Who Can Use VSE
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on Vancouver Social Events.
By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate — your real name and a valid email address. A profile photo is encouraged but not required.
You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Don’t share your password with anyone. If you think someone has accessed your account without your permission, contact us right away at admin@vancouversocialevents.com.
2. What VSE Is (and Isn’t)
Vancouver Social Events is a platform — like a community bulletin board. We provide tools for organizers to list events and for members to find them, RSVP, and buy tickets.
We are not the organizer of most events listed on this site. Independent organizers create and run their own events. VSE is not responsible for what happens at those events, including cancellations, changes in venue, or the conduct of attendees or organizers.
Think of us like Craigslist for local social events — we connect people, but we don’t control what happens once you show up.
3. Buying Tickets
When you buy a ticket through VSE, you are purchasing directly from the event organizer. VSE processes payments on their behalf.
Ticket prices are set by the organizer and shown clearly before you check out.
Our service fee is added at checkout. This fee covers payment processing and platform costs. It is shown before you complete your purchase so there are no surprises.
VSE’s service fee is non-refundable under all circumstances.
Refunds on ticket prices are entirely at the discretion of the event organizer. Each organizer sets their own refund policy, which will be stated on the event page. VSE does not process refunds on behalf of organizers and is not responsible for refund disputes between attendees and organizers. If you have a refund request, contact the event organizer directly.
4. Posting Events (For Organizers)
If you post events on VSE, you agree to the following:
- Be accurate. The event details you post — date, time, location, price, description — must be true and kept up to date.
- Be legal. Your event must comply with all applicable laws, including any permits or licensing required.
- Be honest. Don’t misrepresent what attendees will experience at your event.
- Honour your tickets. If someone buys a ticket to your event, you are obligated to let them in (unless they violate your event’s stated rules).
- Handle your own cancellations and refunds. If you cancel or change an event, it is your responsibility to notify your attendees and handle any refunds according to your stated refund policy. VSE is not involved in this process.
A note on editing: VSE may edit or rewrite event listings to improve search engine visibility and help organizers attract more attendees. We do this in good faith based on the information the organizer provides. However, organizers remain solely responsible for the accuracy of their event details. VSE is not liable for any errors, omissions, or misrepresentations that result from this editing process. If an organizer disagrees with any changes made to their listing, they may edit it directly — all edits are subject to VSE review and approval before going live.
VSE reserves the right to remove any event listing that we believe is misleading, inappropriate, or in violation of these terms.
5. Photos and Video at Events
Many VSE events are photographed or filmed for promotional use. Photos and video may be posted on our website or social media.
By attending a VSE event, you acknowledge that photography and video recording may take place. In group settings — large gatherings, group activities, and social events — it is not always possible to exclude individuals from group photos or footage. We will make reasonable efforts to honour specific requests, but we cannot guarantee exclusion from all photos or video taken at a busy group event.
If you have concerns about being photographed, please be aware of this policy before attending.
6. Your Behaviour on the Site and at Events
We want VSE to be a welcoming community. You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, or disrespect other members or organizers
- Post false, misleading, or harmful content
- Use VSE to spam or advertise without permission
- Scrape, copy, or misuse content from this site
- Create fake accounts or impersonate someone else
We can suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these rules, without notice.
7. Email Communications
By creating an account on Vancouver Social Events, you agree to receive emails from us. These may include:
- Event announcements and recommendations
- Updates about events you have registered for or purchased tickets to
- Platform news and community updates
- Occasional promotional emails about upcoming events
We will always include an unsubscribe link in promotional emails. However, some emails are necessary to operate your account — for example, booking confirmations, password resets, and important notices about events you have signed up for. You may not opt out of these.
We will not spam you. We send emails because running a social events community requires communication between us and our members.
8. Privacy
We collect basic information when you create an account — your name and email address. We use this to operate the platform and (with your consent) to send you event updates and newsletters.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
For full details on how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
9. Our Liability Is Limited
We do our best to keep VSE running smoothly and to list only legitimate events. But we can’t guarantee everything will always go perfectly.
VSE is not liable for:
- What happens at any event listed on this site
- Losses caused by event cancellations or changes
- Technical issues that prevent you from accessing the site
- Any actions taken by other members or organizers
- Refund disputes between attendees and organizers
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of VSE is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify registered members by email. Continuing to use the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of British Columbia.
