These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Vancouver Social Events (“VSE”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) at vancouversocialevents.com. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
VSE is operated from British Columbia, Canada. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
1. What VSE Is
Vancouver Social Events is an online platform that connects people with local social events and community groups in Metro Vancouver. We provide tools for event organizers to list events, sell tickets, and communicate with attendees. We are a platform — not an event organizer. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or accuracy of events listed by third-party organizers.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or purchase tickets. By using VSE, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at help@vancouversocialevents.com if you suspect unauthorized use. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or are used in a manner that harms other users or the platform.
4. Tickets and Payments
Tickets purchased through VSE are processed via Stripe. By purchasing a ticket, you authorize the charge to your payment method.
Refund policy: Refunds are at the sole discretion of the event organizer. VSE does not guarantee refunds. If an event is cancelled by the organizer, VSE will use commercially reasonable efforts to facilitate a refund, but is not liable for the organizer’s failure to refund.
VSE charges a platform fee on paid ticket sales. This fee is non-refundable in all circumstances.
5. Organizer Responsibilities
If you list an event on VSE, you agree that:
- All event details (date, time, location, price) are accurate and will be kept up to date
- You have all necessary permits, licences, and permissions to hold the event
- You will honour tickets sold through VSE
- You will not use VSE to promote illegal activity or events that violate any applicable law
- You are solely responsible for the conduct of your event and the safety of attendees
VSE reserves the right to remove any event listing at any time, for any reason, without notice.
6. User Conduct
You agree not to use VSE to:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- Harass, threaten, or harm other users
- Scrape, crawl, or collect data from the platform without written permission
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform
- Use the platform for spam, unsolicited commercial messages, or any unlawful purpose
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VSE and its owners, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform or attendance at any event listed on the platform.
In no event shall VSE’s total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the platform exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to VSE in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars ($100 CAD).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable British Columbia or Canadian law.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless VSE and its owners, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the platform; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your event listings or conduct as an organizer; or (d) your violation of any third-party rights.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on VSE created by us — including the site design, logo, text, and code — is owned by Vancouver Social Events and may not be reproduced without written permission. Content you submit (event descriptions, photos, etc.) remains yours, but you grant VSE a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and promote it on the platform.
11. Privacy
Your use of VSE is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the platform, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described there.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
